Brilliance - A
spot on the way
Sarah "Baghat" Zischkale, Lee
"MissT" Zischkale and Sonja "Ellen" Dawson
are the names of todays Brilliance members. But in 1996 it all
started up. Young Baghat said to her sister Lee she wants to
build a female group and sing. So they did for fun. A few weeks
later a friend of them named Tina K. began to work with the group
which was originally called "Prime". Soon they became a
group of four members, because Melanie B. decided to join the
group, too. First everybody was content with singing cover songs,
but soon Baghat and Lee got bored, they wanted to write their own
songs, make their own style and begin to put some rap in it. Tina
K. left the band for no reason and Melanie B. moved away from New
York, where they lived back in these days. They grew and brought
their own style through. in 1998 they met todays third member
Ellen, who was called Sonja Ellen Bishop back then. They met her
after they've moved to Atlanta, where Ellen had lived for a
couple of years. They got to know each other very well and became
close friends. "Prime" turned into
"Brilliance" and Ellen started to sing and dance with
them. She had good ideas and was content with what they had
started. In the same year they got to know Dylan Dawson (today
married to Ellen) who discovered them on a highschool party. He
asked the girls to work with him as a producer, and so he is
today. Dylan ( owner of Atlanta's DD music co. ) and his close
friend Jamal pushed Brilliance into a contest of brand new
singers in "The house of blues" in 1998. They've won
and got to know Bokeem and his Boorush company, who are now
working with them, too. "We always have our fun by writing
songs and making music", says Baghat, "but for now, we
need to finish our personal things, then come up as something if
we can". And we are sure they can, because they have their
own style and music and there are very good tracks for every ear
of every age. Their songs are all written by them and though
their message is difficult, you can understand what they wanna
bring near to you. 1999 went on with Brilliance performing in
some clubs. They have some great songs in their cellar with which
they should come up soon. A mixture of HipHop, R'n'B and Pop is
their music. A bit of everything, that's what it makes good.
Probably they'll be in your recordstore soon, who knows. Whatch
out for it.
